Upcycled Headbands

i was recently going through my closet and found a skirt which was definitely too short for me and probably wouldn’t even fit my sister. at first i thought i’ll throw or give it away, but then i realized the possibilities of what i could turn old skirt into.

up·cy·cle  |ˈəpˌsīkəl|

verb – reuse (discarded objects or material) in such a way as to create a product of a higher quality or value than the original.

and that was precisely what i did! i turned the old skirt into two adorable headbands!

the first headband was made by cutting off about an inch of fabric from the bottom, hemming with fabric glue, and angling the ends for a cute knotted style!

headband number 2 was a little more exquisite. i first cut the waistband off (it has an elastic part on the back which added to the flexibility of the band). then i removed one of the buttons and did a little sewing by transferring it to the strap of the headband and then cut a hole in the other strap for the button and voila!
