Bible Reading Update #11
It’s been yet another encouraging week in God’s Word for all of us, I’m sure. Even though I have heard some of the stories we read in John before, they all seem to have new meaning each time I read them. A short passage that stood out to me this week was John 8:31-32. “So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.'” By reading our Bibles everyday, we are proving ourselves to be disciples of God. We will then know the truth, and it will make us FREE! When we don’t know God and His Word, we are leading a life of slavery to sin. However, when we read His truths in Scripture, we will realize what Jesus did for us, and our burden of sin will be removed. We will be free if we “continue” in His Word.
A friend shared an insight with me as well this week:
“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it” (John 2:4-5). This is probably applicable to when our prayers are answered with “Wait.” The right time is not yet come. Do I still take the example of the servants and am I ready to obey whatever He tells me to do in the meantime?
Please pray for my friend’s dad this week. He has developed some sort of cancer, and he broke his arm as a result of the weak bone. He had surgery on his arm the other day and thankfully it went well. Please pray for him and his family during this hard time.
Have a wonderful week, friends!
